Data Visualization

Instructor: Laurie Allen

Description: “Data” is a term that is used widely outside of the humanities, and frequently looked upon with reasonable skepticism within the humanities. In this session, learn about ways that understanding your material as data can help you approach it in useful new ways. Experiment with tools that can help you explore and see patterns in different kinds of data sources. The workshop will move relatively quickly through a conversation about structured data to an exploration of ways for cleaning and organizing data and into tools used to approach data depending on its structure.

Tech/Software Requirements: Participants should bring laptop computers, and some idea about what kind of materials they’d like to pursue as data sources.
